Islamabad, Mar 3, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need to keep sugar and other essential goods within reach of the public at reasonable prices.
While presiding over a session in Lahore on Sunday, he stressed implementing stringent controls to regulate sugar rates and curb illegal stockpiling.
He instructed officials to devise a concrete plan to stabilize prices, particularly in preparation for Ramazan.
The premier made it clear that any negligence in managing price fluctuations would not be tolerated.
During the discussion, the status of sugar production was reviewed, confirming that the country currently holds an adequate supply.

Provincial administrations have set up designated fair-price outlets to distribute sugar at lower costs, while ongoing efforts aim to curb illicit smuggling.
Authorities assured the prime minister of decisive action against hoarders, with reinforced monitoring at the district level to prevent exploitation.
Later, PM Shehbaz had a meeting with Federal Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari to assess the electricity distribution system.
He reiterated his directive to bring down power tariffs across the board and ensure a seamless electricity supply, especially during Sehri and Iftar, to ease the burden on consumers.
