Islamabad, 7 May, 2025: PM Shehbaz to Address the country amid increasing regional unrest, following a high-level emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) aimed at reviewing Pakistan’s response to recent military actions taken by India.
Amid an atmosphere of heightened alert, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has scheduled a national address after convening the NSC to assess the shifting security environment.
The gathering includes top military commanders, senior government officials, and key representatives from national security institutions.
The focus of the discussion has been Pakistan’s strategic and diplomatic response to what it sees as an aggressive escalation from its eastern neighbour.

The emergency meeting follows India’s initiation of “Operation Sindoor,” a coordinated campaign of air raids reportedly aimed at various locations in Pakistan and parts of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Indian officials have alleged that the targets were militant camps linked to a recent attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
However, Pakistani authorities have provided a contrasting account. Officials claim that the airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least 26 civilians, with dozens more injured.
Among the affected locations were residential areas and places of worship, suggesting that non-military targets were hit. In response, PM Shehbaz to Address the public to outline Pakistan’s stance and reassure the nation amid growing uncertainty.
Pakistan’s armed forces have launched a strong counteroffensive. Military reports confirm the downing of five Indian fighter jets three Rafale aircraft, one MiG-29, and one SU-30.
Furthermore, a major Indian military installation has reportedly been destroyed, alongside several forward posts across the Line of Control (LoC).
