Islamabad, 12 June 2025: MDCAT Syllabus, a revised outline for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 has been made public by Pakistan’s national medical authority, aiming to bring greater clarity and consistency to the admissions process.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has published the updated syllabus on its official online portal, enabling prospective candidates to begin preparations ahead of the scheduled examination window later this year.

While exact dates have yet to be finalized, the entrance test is expected to take place between the final week of September and the opening week of October.

The redesigned test format will assess applicants across five principal areas: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. Candidates will be required to complete 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) within a three-hour window. Importantly, no negative marking will be applied under the new structure.

Officials familiar with the process have indicated that the revamped MDCAT Syllabus has been structured to ensure fairness and accessibility while maintaining rigorous academic standards.

To be eligible for medical school admissions, a minimum score of 55% will be necessary, whereas applicants targeting dental colleges must secure at least 50% on the exam.

These thresholds are part of the PMDC’s broader merit-based policy to uphold academic integrity and eliminate bias.

A spokesperson for the council highlighted that the MDCAT Syllabus has been finalized following detailed input from educational experts, curriculum authorities, and university representatives to ensure alignment with national standards and institutional needs.
