A crackdown against illegal Afghan nationals continued in the garrison city, with police registering 63 cases during the past five days.
Of these, 18 cases were lodged against individuals who had rented out their houses or shops to illegal Afghan residents. Police also moved 216 Afghan nationals living without legal status to holding centres for deportation.
The action is being carried out on the instructions of the Punjab government. Police have appealed to citizens to report any illegal foreign residents in their neighbourhoods.
According to the spokesperson, cases were registered in various police stations, including City, Pirwadhai, Waris Khan, Banni, New Town, Sadiqabad, Ratta Amral, RA Bazaar, Race Course, Wah Cantt, Chaklala, Airport, Taxila, Saddar Wah, Civil Lines, Morgah, Naseerabad, Mandara, Jatli, Saddar Beroni, Gujar Khan, Dhamial, Kallar Syedan and Rawat.
Police also reminded the public that renting or selling property to illegal foreigners is against the law. They stated that such individuals cannot legally own or lease houses, shops or vehicles. Citizens were further advised not to enter into business transactions, provide employment, or hand over vehicles and rickshaws to illegal foreigners.

The spokesperson said that foreigners living legally must register themselves at the relevant police station. Officials assured the public that any information shared about illegal residents would be kept confidential. Citizens were urged to strictly follow the government’s instructions, as violation may lead to legal action.
