Two fresh polio cases in Pakistan 2025 have been confirmed in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sparking renewed concerns about the virus’ spread in high-risk areas. According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the newly infected children are from Tank district and North Waziristan.

Health officials described the situation as “alarming,” noting that the virus continues to circulate persistently in southern KP, which has become the epicenter of polio outbreaks. The region’s ongoing transmission poses a serious challenge to Pakistan’s eradication efforts.

To counter the growing threat, authorities announced a nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign next month. Parents are being urged to ensure every child under the age of five receives polio drops during the drive to help curb the virus’ spread.

The rising number of cases is deeply worrying. Earlier this month, a five-month-old child in Lakki Marwat also tested positive for the virus. With the latest confirmations, the total polio cases in Pakistan 2025 have reached 23, raising fears of a major setback in the country’s decades-long battle to eliminate the disease.
