Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced that Port Qasim modernization will play a key role in helping Pakistan achieve its $100 billion revenue goal. Speaking at a ceremony where Port Qasim was ranked the 9th most improved container port globally, he said the port’s efficiency has significantly increased due to reduced cargo handling time, better berth operations, and digital management upgrades.
The minister said the government plans to turn Port Qasim into a regional industrial and trade hub, supported by infrastructure expansion and green maritime initiatives.
A major part of the plan includes establishing the Sea-to-Steel Green Maritime Corridor to revive Pakistan Steel Mills and link port operations with steel manufacturing.

He added that projects like the Port Qasim Special Economic Zone, new terminals, and improved road and rail connectivity will attract investment, boost industrial activity, and create jobs.
The goal is to develop Port Qasim into a complete maritime-industrial ecosystem driving long-term economic growth.
