Islamabad, June 27, 2025: Pathum Nissanka’s unbeaten 146, with valuable support from Prabath Jayasuriya, pushed Sri Lanka into a dominant spot on day two of the second Test against Bangladesh. Prabath Jayasuriya ended the day calmly on 5 not out, as Sri Lanka reached 290 for 2, ahead by 43 runs.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh resumed their innings with only two wickets left and were quickly wrapped up within the opening hour. Ebadot Hossain fell for 8 and Taijul Islam, who made a patient 33, was the last man out. Asitha Fernando and Sonal Dinusha shared the last two wickets, finishing with 3-51 and 3-22 respectively.
Sri Lanka’s innings began solidly with Nissanka and Lahiru Udara putting on 88 runs for the first wicket. Udara was trapped lbw by Taijul Islam for 40. Nissanka then built a massive 194-run partnership with veteran Dinesh Chandimal, who played fluently for his 93 before misjudging a reverse sweep and giving Nayeem Hasan his only wicket of the day.

Jayasuriya, sent in late in the day to protect the batters, managed to survive a close lbw shout and saw through the remaining overs. As the third day approaches, Sri Lanka will aim to widen their lead and take full control of the match.
