Islamabad, Oct 10: President Arrives in Ashgabat to Participate in International Forum. President Asif Ali Zardari landed here on a two-day official visit to Turkmenistan on Thursday. On his arrival at Ashgabat Airport, the President was met by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers/ Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov.
During the occasion the cultural trappings like breads and flowers were also offered to the president. President Zardari is to speak at the International Forum on ‘Interrelation of Times and Civilizations Basis of Peace and Development’ in Ashgabat.
The International Forum is scheduled for the October 10-11 to celebrate the 300th birth Anniversary of the Turkmen great thinker, poet and philosopher Magtymguly Faragi.In the sidelines of the Forum, the president is also scheduled to attend working meetings with Turkmen counterpart.
The forum will feature leaders, diplomats and other experts and businessmen from different countries and it will cover areas of interest as Central Asia regional connectivity, energy, trade and climate change. During the summit, Pakistan is likely to stress on its operational significance in connecting regional projects including the TAPI gas pipeline and more projects under the economic and infrastructure integration process.
Besides the forum, the President will meet with the leaders of several countries of the region seeking to expand cooperation in trade, energy, and security. The visit is regarded as a chance to enhance cooperation and partnership with Turkmenistan as well as with other Central Asian states, and to discuss common prospects and risks in the region.
