Islamabad, Dec 12: President Asif Ali Zardari has urged China to increase its investments in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two nations. He also stressed the importance of improving interactions, particularly between investors and businesses, to foster greater trade and economic relations.
The President shared these views during a meeting with a Chinese business delegation, led by the Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, at Bilawal House in Karachi. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and other key ministers, including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and Syed Qasim N Qamar.
The delegation expressed interest in investing $1 billion to create a medical city in Pakistan to boost the country’s healthcare sector. They also expressed intentions to invest in various industries such as agriculture, livestock, energy, transport, and manufacturing.
During the meeting, President Zardari emphasized the long-standing friendship and shared interests between Pakistan and China. He mentioned his vision for transforming Gwadar Port into a regional trade and economic hub to enhance regional connectivity and trade.
The President reassured the Chinese delegation that Pakistan was ready to support Chinese investors in every possible way. Additionally, he highlighted the introduction of Chinese language courses in Sindh as a move to strengthen cultural and people-to-people connections between the two countries.
