Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: Tottenham manager Thomas Frank was set to have dream debut. The UEFA Super Cup, with five minutes plus of the match left, looked set to head to north London with a 2-0 scoreline against PSG. Yet the French champions stunned their opponents with an incredible late surge as the game ended in a dramatic penalty shoot-out and deprived Spurs of their moment of glory.
It was obvious throughout most of the game that Frank had a sensible tactical plan in-mind as they had accuracy in their set pieces, composed defence and brutal effectiveness. The Dane, who took over this summer to replace Ange Postecoglou, said: ”It was a very good game against one of the best teams in the world.” We kept it at the point we wanted 80 minutes of the game and some other stuff went wrong.
Tottenham were almost impeccable in the first-half, threatening delivery and astute positioning unsettling the Ligue 1 giants. The Europa League champions had spent 17 years since their previous trophy, and were minutes away, after winning the first one this year already.

Yet it was reflected in the strength of PSG. A late 85th-minute goal turned what would have been the momentum, before an injury-time equaliser by Goncalo Ramos ensured penalties had to be taken. The scene in the shootout was the same with the Parisians getting an advantage over Spurs as Micky van de Ven and Mathys Tel missed a shot to allow PSG win the trophy.
