Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: Paris Saint-Germain, the European Champions, sensationally effected a late turnaround and a goal in extra time to win the super Cup on penalties in a bid to deprive Thomas Frank of his first trophy as the Tottenham manager. Spurs were 2-0 up until the 84 minutes but a 94th-minute header by Goncalo Ramos made it 2-2 and the match went to a shootout where PSG won.

Tottenham dominated play in the first few minutes of the match with Micky van de Ven scoring a close-range goal when Joao Palhinha’s shot hit the bar. Cristian Romero then doubled that lead, heading home a free-kick from Pedro Porro, although just possibly, PSG goalscorer Lucas Chevalier, could have done better.

PSG, whose team is taking time to recover after the defeat in the Club World Cup final, came back with an excellent header of Lee Kang-in followed by the Ramos equaliser. During the shoot-out, Van de Ven had his penalty saved and Mathys Tel missed on behalf of Spurs and Mendes scored the match-winner.

There was a difficult beginning of Frank who was appointed in place of Ange Postecoglou who was sacked despite the success in the Europa League. Spurs defensively improved with PSG not having a single shot on target in over an hour, and played direct doing well on set-pieces.

But Psg vs Tottenham finished with heartbreak as the London side now have three day to refocus before their first game of the premier league against Burnley.
