Islamabad, June 24, 2025: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has revealed that over 2,070 phishing websites and harmful mobile apps were blocked in 2024 as part of a year-long crackdown by the National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC).

In its latest report, the NTSOC disclosed that it also uncovered 550+ cases of leaked Pakistani credentials through dark web surveillance, alongside extensive cybersecurity operations across the telecom sector.

Throughout 2024, the center processed more than 3,200 Indicators of Attack (IoAs) and issued 3,946 Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) to detect and counteract cyber threats in real time.

Key highlights from NTSOC’s 2024 operations:

  • 2,070+ phishing sites and apps blocked
  • 3,946 IoCs issued to telecom entities
  • 3,200+ IoAs processed across the ecosystem
  • 550+ credential leaks identified on the dark web
  • 200+ operational cybersecurity tasks completed

The agency’s CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) also released thousands of public threat advisories and over 50 targeted alerts to critical private sector organizations.

The PTA noted that close coordination with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) allowed for faster threat containment at the network level. It also emphasized a new two-way intelligence-sharing system between public and private sectors, aimed at enhancing nationwide cybersecurity readiness.
