Islamabad, June 25, 2025: In a major step towards fostering digital equality, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), led by Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, held a high-level bilateral meeting with the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership (GDIP) at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025.

The meeting followed the recent Letter of Cooperation signed between the two entities, marking a renewed commitment to driving inclusive digital ecosystems. The session was attended by GDIP Executive Director Onica N. Makwakwa, who praised Pakistan’s progressive strides toward gender-responsive digital policies.

During the talks, PTA shared major updates on its key initiatives. This included advancements in the Gender Digital Divide program, which aims to ensure equal internet access for women and marginalized groups, and the upcoming Subsea Cables Workshop, which will enhance regional digital connectivity.

Both parties emphasized the importance of equitable digital transformation and discussed the next phase of their Gender Inclusion Strategy. New collaborative opportunities were identified to promote meaningful connectivity and empower underserved communities across Pakistan and beyond.
