In a bid to support citizens in flood-hit areas, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed mobile network operators (CMOs) to provide free on-net calls and SMS bundles to affected populations.

The initiative is part of relief measures aimed at restoring communication services in disaster-hit regions, where infrastructure damages have left thousands stranded.

PTA confirmed that 72 percent of damaged telecom sites have already been restored through joint efforts of CMOs and field teams, while work continues to rehabilitate the remaining sites.

According to PTA, the provision of free communication services will ensure that affected families remain in touch with emergency responders and loved ones during this critical time.
