Islamabad, June 29, 2025: In a major relief for consumers, the federal government has decided to remove the Rs. 35 monthly PTV fee from electricity bills. This move will end the collection of nearly Rs. 1.5 billion every month, which was primarily used to fund PTV employee salaries. An official notification is expected soon.
At the same time, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a Rs. 1.50 per unit cut in base electricity tariff. This revision brings the average electricity cost down to Rs. 34 per unit for distribution companies across the country.
NEPRA has sent the tariff cut decision to the federal government for final approval. The reduction will be officially notified once a decision on subsidy allocations is made.
