The deputy commissioner of Sargodha has declared Saturday, August 23, a public holiday to mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hassan.

The decision was taken in view of the annual 28 Safar procession, which is regarded as one of the largest religious gatherings in Punjab. According to the official notification, all public and private educational institutions in the city will remain closed.

The 28 Safar procession carries deep religious and cultural significance, drawing thousands of mourners and participants from across the province. Officials said the closure of schools and colleges would help facilitate security and smooth traffic management during the event.

Law enforcement agencies and the district administration are finalizing arrangements to ensure safety and order. Additional security personnel will be deployed along the procession routes, while traffic plans are being put in place to manage the large gathering.
