Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: The Sindh administration has declared August 9 (Saturday) as a public holiday in observance of the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the revered Sufi poet and spiritual figure. This annual event draws thousands who honor his legacy of peace and mysticism.

As per the official notification, 14th Safar, 1447 AH, corresponding to August 9, all government departments, educational setups, semi-autonomous and independent entities, and municipal bodies under the Sindh provincial government will remain shut.

However, departments offering essential services will continue their operations across the province without interruption.

The spiritual gathering is held each year on the 14th of Safar, the second month in the Islamic calendar, and spans three days. The commemorative events include poetry sessions, cultural discussions, and other literary functions to pay homage to Shah Latif’s message.
