Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: The Lahore district administration has officially declared Friday, August 15, a public holiday to commemorate the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), one of the most respected Sufi saints in the region.
An official notification confirmed that all government offices, educational institutes, and public departments within the district will remain closed on this day.
The Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, also known as Data Sahib, attracts thousands of devotees from across Pakistan who visit his shrine in Lahore to pay their respects.

Last week, the Sindh Education Department also announced a holiday on August 15 for all government and private educational institutions in the province to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). The day is observed with great reverence and mourning by millions worldwide.
Separately, the Islamabad district administration has also declared August 13 a local holiday within the federal capital’s revenue limits.
