Public transport fares have been reduced by up to 5% following the recent cut in diesel prices. The Transport Department issued orders to regional transport authorities to immediately implement the revised rates, with reductions ranging from Rs. 50 to Rs. 300 on different routes.

For instance, the fare from Lahore to Sargodha has dropped by Rs. 50 to Rs. 1,060, while travel from Lahore to Islamabad now costs Rs. 1,950 after a Rs. 100 cut. Similarly, fares for Lahore to Peshawar, Rahim Yar Khan, Hyderabad, and Karachi have been reduced by Rs. 120, Rs. 140, Rs. 300, and Rs. 320, respectively.

The reduction in transport fares comes after the Finance Division announced a major decrease of Rs. 12.84 per litre in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) for the upcoming fortnight. Petrol prices, however, remain unchanged.

Rana Mohsin, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority Lahore, confirmed that the new fares—reflecting a 5% decrease linked to the Rs. 12.84 diesel price cut—are effective from today.
