Islamabad, May 8, 2025: The National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has issued a public advisory.

The statement aims to dispel social media rumours about the alleged suspension of ATM and online banking services across the country.

Officials have categorically denied these claims, stating that Pakistan’s banking systems — including ATMs and digital banking platforms — are fully operational and functioning without any issues.

The advisory clarified that the misleading messages being circulated appear to be intentionally spread to create unnecessary panic among the public.

CERT confirmed that cybersecurity units within banks and financial institutions are actively monitoring digital systems, and no credible threats or disruptions have been detected.

The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan’s financial digital infrastructure remains secure and stable.

The advisory also urged citizens to avoid acting on unverified information shared through unofficial sources.

People were encouraged to rely only on communications from their banks or official state bodies.

SBP continues to work closely with CERT to ensure the resilience and safety of the country’s financial services.

In addition to debunking the false reports, CERT reminded the public of basic safety practices.

Users are advised to remain alert while using ATMs and conducting online transactions, and never to share personal banking details like PIN
