The transfer of surplus teachers in Punjab has begun as part of the provincial government’s effort to fill vacant posts in remote areas.

Teachers who have been transferred to schools more than 100 kilometers away can submit applications to the respective Deputy Commissioner (DC) for review.

Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that surplus teachers were given two opportunities to choose their preferred postings but most did not apply. As a result, the computerized system automatically assigned transfers to ensure staff shortages are covered in distant schools.

The minister made it clear that all transferred teachers must join their new postings without delay, adding that no transfer orders will be reversed.

The move is aimed at balancing the teaching staff across the province, particularly in rural and underdeveloped regions where schools face a lack of teachers.
