Islamabad, June 18, 2025: The Punjab 2025 Budget has set a new benchmark by unveiling the province’s largest-ever Annual Development Plan, allocating an unprecedented Rs. 1.24 trillion to uplift infrastructure, especially roads and public transport.

The lion’s share—Rs. 335.5 billion—is dedicated to infrastructure, signaling a robust push to modernize highways, build new link roads, and expand urban transit systems. Notably, Rs. 120 billion has been set aside for the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the province. Crucially, the Punjab 2025 Budget roads and transport plan also focuses on equity. Underdeveloped regions such as Layyah and Bhakkar will benefit from Rs. 24.5 billion in targeted road development. These upgrades aim to:

  • Improve connectivity to markets, schools, and health facilities
  • Enable smoother movement of goods for local businesses and farmers
  • Narrow the rural-urban development divide

With this forward-thinking allocation, the Punjab government is positioning the province for inclusive economic growth, cleaner cities, and stronger rural infrastructure.
