A senior officials meeting was held on Monday to determine the feasibility of the proposed Elevated Expressway in Lahore, a proposed transport project to resolve congestion and reduce pressure on thousands of people.
The four-lane expressway would connect Gulberg to Babu Sabu through the main stormwater channel in the city that is projected to carry more than 70,000 passengers daily. Officials pointed out that the route would save up to 10 minutes of commute between the Gulberg Main Boulevard and Motorway M-2. To facilitate the free movement of traffic, there are six major interchanges which have been incorporated into the design.
The officials reported that more linkages will occur to connect the expressway with the Metro Bus and the Orange Line Metro Train providing direct facilities to the people using the public transport. Stating that it is environmentally beneficial, officials indicated that the project will relieve the burden on the traffic, and reduce the level of carbon emission, which conforms to the green policies of the government.
