Islamabad, Feb 14: The Punjab government has outlined the eligibility criteria for its laptop distribution scheme, designed to provide digital resources to students across the province. The decision was finalized during a high-level review meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat.
The meeting, which also included Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education, Ajmal Chandio, and Higher Education Department (HED) Secretary, Dr. Farrukh Naveed, focused on the rules and procedures for the initiative. Officials were instructed to expedite the process, finalize dates for the launch of the web portal, and prepare for the announcement of the merit list.

According to the new guidelines, laptops will initially be distributed to students in their first and second semesters. To be eligible for the scheme, BS students must have secured at least 65 percent marks in their intermediate exams, while medical students must have a minimum of 80 percent. The minister emphasized the urgency of completing the online application portal and also highlighted the need for final preparations for the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to foster digital learning and provide much-needed support to students in higher education. By equipping students with laptops, the government aims to improve access to digital resources and ensure that students are well-prepared for the challenges of modern education.
