Islamabad, 8 May, 2025: During rising tensions with India, the Punjab government has issued emergency standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guide the residents in case of a potential armed conflict or aerial strike.
The advisory, issued by the Welfare Wing of the Services and General Administration Department, urge the citizens to remain calm and follow specific safety and evacuation measures in case of emergency.
Government emphasise that the advisory is intended to prepare households across the province, with emphasis on secure sheltering, emergency supplies, and proper evacuation steps.
Preparedness guidelines recommend that residents designate a secure, windowless area within their homes, such as a basement or interior room.

When relocating within buildings, the use of stairs is strongly recommended over elevators, advisory stressed.

If evacuation becomes necessary, the residents are directed to carry essential documents and emergency supplies, and strictly follow official guidance.
The government also stressed on assisting vulnerable citizens, including the elderly, children and those with disabilities.
Authorities have urged the public to stay composed and alert for official updates.
