Islamabad, June 17, 2025: The Punjab government has set aside Rs. 4 billion in its 2025-26 fiscal plan for solar panels initiative to promote renewable energy throughout the province.

Through this initiative, the provincial government intends to introduce cost-effective, eco-friendly energy alternatives for Punjab citizens while helping to ease electricity bills and ultimately boosting the region’s long-term energy stability.

Alongside the solar project, the budget outlines several other major expenditures. Funding for the transport sector has surged by 359%, indicating the government’s commitment to enhancing public transportation and urban movement systems.

To diversify agricultural practices, Rs. 8.3 billion has been earmarked for shrimp farming, aimed at nurturing the province’s aquaculture industry.

Social welfare programs form another key area of focus. Rs. 3.5 billion has been reserved for the Minority Card, Rs. 4 billion for the Chief Minister Punjab Himmat Card, and Rs. 40 billion for the Maryam Nawaz Social Security Ration Card.

The Apni Chhat Apna Ghar initiative has been granted a substantial Rs. 150 billion to provide housing solutions for economically disadvantaged families.

Additionally, the budget includes a 10% raise in salaries for government employees and a proposed 5% increase in pensions for retired workers.
