The Punjab Government has given Deputy Commissioners the authority to decide whether schools in flood-affected areas should remain closed or reopen. This step comes in light of the severe floods that have hit various districts across the province, severely affecting many schools.
According to the School Education Department, the flooding has caused widespread disruption and in certain areas the situation is still not safe for students and staff. As a result, Deputy Commissioners will be responsible for evaluating the local conditions and deciding whether schools should remain closed or reopen, depending on the situation in each district.

Additionally, the Chief Executive Officers and District Education Authorities in affected districts have been instructed to stay in close contact with the local administration to ensure the smooth implementation of these decisions. They are also tasked with keeping in mind the safety of students and staff while assessing the viability of reopening schools.
