Islamabad, Aug 13, 2025: The Punjab Education Department has announced new schools reopening dates. From August 18, classes for Grade 9, Grade 10, Intermediate, O-Level, and A-Level will resume in both public and private schools. Classes for Grade 1 to Grade 8 will restart on September 1.

Earlier, the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association had strongly rejected the Punjab government summer vacation extension until September 1, calling it unnecessary and damaging to students academic growth.

The association had argued that Punjab prolonged closures may severely affect students learning routines and exam readiness. Moreover, staying out of school for almost three months is a serious setback to both academic performance and the overall school calendar.
It further urged the government to take proper measures so that schools could reopen under strict safety rules, or in phases, starting with classes preparing for board exams. The summer vacation extension, it added, is causing more harm than good.
