Finance Minister of Punjab, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, has said that families affected by destructive floods will receive special relief in electricity bills and taxes.
He confirmed that a broader rehabilitation package is being prepared which will be implemented when flood water levels are decreased and damage evaluations made.
According to the minister, those displaced families are being moved out of the worst hit into the relief camps where they are getting decent shelter, food and even medical attention. He noted that people have come together in a time of crisis by not just government departments but also the civil society and non-governmental organizations taking an active part in relief works.

Shuja visited relief camps in Faizpur Kalan and Chuhng and personally engaged in direct contact with flood-impacted families, giving them encouragement and providing tabarruk. He also attended Eid Milad festivals at the camps praying to the security of Pakistan and early rehabilitation of all victims. He went later to the central Milad procession at Delhi Gate.
The provincial finance minister emphasized that Punjab is determined to assist the victims of flood till they are fully recovered. The government and the social organizations are collaborating to make sure that every family in Punjab that is affected gets access to financial relief, essential services, and long-term rehabilitation measures.
