Lahore, August 18, 2025: The Punjab government has approved multiple development projects worth Rs. 15.76 billion aimed at improving road infrastructure, strengthening wildlife conservation, and promoting eco-tourism across the province. The decision was taken during the 20th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) for the current fiscal year, chaired by Planning & Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf.

Key Approved Projects

  • Strengthening and Capacity Building of the Wildlife Department (Revised): Rs. 3,631.564 million
  • Revamping and Experience Development of Bahawalpur Zoo: Rs. 3,479.820 million
  • Construction of Additional Ring Road from Bahawalpur Railway Station to Bino Hospital (via Bindra Pully, Dewan Pully, Sadar Pully, and Kali Pully): Rs. 1,628.492 million
  • Rehabilitation of Metalled Road from Sahiwal to Pakpattan: Rs. 4,518.906 million
  • Rehabilitation of Sammundri–Sahiwal Road: Rs. 2,456.425 million
  • Feasibility Study for Chairlift and Cable Car from Lakot to Pindi Point, Murree: Rs. 50 million

Government’s Vision

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Naeem Rauf emphasized that these initiatives will play a vital role in improving connectivity, boosting eco-tourism, and protecting Punjab’s natural heritage. He added that the government remains committed to sustainable development, better mobility, and conservation of wildlife resources.

The meeting was also attended by P&D Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, board members, and senior officers.
