Islamabad, July 7, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has strictly banned doctors and nurses from using mobile phones during working hours in government hospitals. As per the official order, no medical staff will be allowed to use mobile phones while on duty.
The government further emphasised anyone caught breaking this rule will face action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, which can also result in dismissal from job.

This step has been taken to improve discipline and ensure that doctors and nurses give full attention to their patients. Officials said the main purpose of this decision is to improve healthcare services by stopping distractions during duty hours .
All public hospitals in Punjab have been directed to follow this order immediately.
