Islamabad, Dec 12: Data on teachers interested in voluntary retirement, especially those between the ages of 50 and 55, has been requested by the School Education Department from district education authorities. Information on teachers who have completed 25 years of service has also been gathered, according to department sources.
The agency has asked schools to submit this information as soon as possible, including the designation, date of birth, posting, and educational background of teachers who are looking to retire. According to additional sources, the department has about 8,000 senior instructors with FA qualifications and 12,000 matriculation-qualified teachers.
In the meantime, the Government College University (GCU), Lahore’s Hiking and Mountaineering Club (HMC) commemorated World Mountain Day by pledging to be adventurous and environmentally conscious.
The main guest during the function was Colonel (R) Sajid Basir Sheikh, a notable alumni and former president of HMC (1961–1962). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, the vice chancellor of GCU, was also present and spoke about the importance of extracurricular activities in helping people become well-rounded.
Syed Yasir Usman, the club’s advisor, and Colonel Sheikh cut the cake at the ceremony, which also featured musical performances. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali highlighted GCU’s tradition of academic and extracurricular achievement in his speech, pointing out that pursuits like climbing and mountaineering help students develop their mental and physical skills.
One of GCU’s oldest student organizations, the HMC, has played a significant role in teaching students to welcome difficulties, value the outdoors, and cultivate an adventurous spirit. The national anthem and an environmental protection commitment marked the event’s conclusion.
