The Punjab government has written a formal letter to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), clarifying that it has not imposed any restrictions on the inter-provincial movement of wheat or flour.

The letter, issued by Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Price Control, Salma Butt, states that the issue is being unnecessarily politicized. It said that Punjab continues to issue legal permits for the transportation of wheat and flour to other provinces.

The Punjab government further alleged that the KP government has failed to establish strategic wheat reserves, keep flour mills operational, or implement an effective supply plan to ensure adequate availability of flour in the market.

The letter also criticized the KP government for “spending the Rs. 1,340 billion received from the federal government not on public welfare, but on political activities and confrontation.”

However, the letter emphasized that Punjab has no intention of creating conflict with any province and remains committed to cooperative inter-provincial relations.
