Schools in Rahim Yar Khan have been ordered to remain closed as floodwater poses a high risk to the river belt areas. The closure will be effective from September 8 to 13, according to a notification issued by the District Education Authority on Sunday.

The decision comes after the Punjab School Education Department directed local authorities to take safety measures in flood-affected regions. The Deputy Commissioner confirmed that 44 schools across Liaquatpur, Sadiqabad, Khanpur and Rahim Yar Khan will stay shut during this period. Authorities said these schools fall in areas most exposed to flood danger.

Officials added that the closure is temporary and necessary to protect students and staff until the flood threat subsides. The District Education Authority has also instructed monitoring teams to ensure strict compliance with the order.
