Islamabad, Aug 28: The Punjab Inspector General has made new license application procedure simplification announcements. Candidates who do not pass their driving exams will be granted significant relief under the new regulation.
Details indicate that Punjab’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Ammara Athar, has implemented a major modification for applicants taking the driving exam. Instead of the previous 42-day waiting period, those who fail their road test will now be allowed to retake it after just 15 days.
Previously limited to candidates who failed the sign exam, this new regulation is now applicable to those who fail the road test as well. According to Ammara Athar, changes were made to the Punjab Motor Vehicle Rules 1969 in order to speed up the process. As a result, candidates who fail either exam can retry it within 15 days.
Ammara Athar also emphasized that all candidates are captured on video while they take the sign and road examinations. Through this step, the licensing procedure will be transparent and merit-based.IG Punjab recently gave the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) the authority to grant driver’s licenses.
Eight PHP centers around the province have been given permission to conduct license issuance, according to a notice from the IG Office. Through PHP Regional Offices in Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and other carefully chosen regions, these licenses will be delivered. The whole license procedure will be managed by the regional PHP offices.
