The Punjab administration has made the decision to use Safe City cameras to keep an eye on monsoon operations in the provincial capital. This choice was taken on Tuesday at the WASA headquarters during a meeting presided over by Minister of Local Government Zeeshan Rafiq.
Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood, WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmad, and LWMC Managing Director Babar Sahib Din were among those present. The arrangements for managing the monsoon rains in Lahore were examined at the meeting. The minister was briefed on the monsoon plan by WASA MD Ghufran Ahmad.
The minister oversaw the deployment of personnel from LWMC, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, and LDA at WASA relief camps and stressed the significance of preserving traffic flow during cleaning activities, notably at 31 underpasses in Lahore.
It was requested of all ministries to maximize public facilitation in line with the objective of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He issued a warning, saying that failing to reach the chief minister’s expectations would not be accepted.
Additionally, Zeeshan Rafiq stated that members from the Municipal Corporation of Lahore, LDA, and LWMC were present in the central monsoon control center that had been set up at the WASA office. Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood emphasized that plans were discussed in joint meetings following each downpour, pointing out that most of Lahore’s drainage work was finished in less than 30 minutes following the day’s rainfall. 5,900 field staff members operate around the clock in shifts, according to WASA MD Ghufran Ahmad, and better preparations have been made this year in expectation of heavier rains.
