Islamabad, July 19, 2025: The Punjab government is all set to launch a new transport initiative called Punjab E-Taxi Scheme. The project focus is to introduce electric taxis across the province to promote clean energy and help unemployed youth and women earn a stable income.

Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan chaired a meeting to review the project. He shared that in the first phase, 1100 electric taxis will be handed over to eligible individuals through interest-free installment plans. This means applicants can pay monthly installments without any extra charges making it easier for many to own their vehicle.

This effort is part of CM Maryam Nawaz’s larger E-Taxi Program 2025, which seeks to reduce pollution by replacing petrol-powered taxis with electric ones. Dewan Motors has teamed up with the government to supply the vehicles. Two models, Honri VC20 and VC30 will be provided, offering ranges of 200km and 300km per charge.
