Islamabad, July 26, 2025: The Punjab government has approved the policy framework for the issuance of NOCs for establishment of new petrol pumps all over the province. The goal behind this step is to make things simpler and to make sure legal and safety rules are properly followed.

This move got approved in the 21st meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business and Privatisation. The meeting was led by Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and officials from all related departments were also there.

The committee went through a bunch of suggestions for new laws and policy changes meant to help the public. Among the key proposals were the draft Punjab Child Labour (Prohibition) Rules 2024 and the Punjab Occupational Safety and Health Rules 2024.

The finance minister said that all new laws should “follow international standards, protect human rights, and include proper systems for enforcement.”

Another matter discussed in the meeting was a Twinning Agreement between Faisalabad and the city of Shymkent in Kazakhstan. The committee called it a good step to “boost cooperation and promote Punjab’s global image.”

Minister Shuja-ur-Rehman said that cabinet committees play a key role in making laws and policies more transparent and effective. He also told all departments to finish the proposals soon, focus on public interest, and submit them for final approval by the full cabinet.
