Massive floods have hit Punjab, causing widespread damage to homes, crops and infrastructure. According to authorities, more than 210,000 people have been evacuated so far while 600,000 people have been affected, as rivers continue to rise in many districts.

Meanwhile, UN-OCHA said the death toll from this monsoon season is almost three times the fatalities recorded in the same period last year.

Heavy rains and excess water released from Indian dams have contributed to the unprecedented rise in river levels. Central districts have been hardest hit, with south Punjab now at risk as four rivers are expected to converge in the coming days.
