Islamabad, Jan 24: The provincial government has made a major stride towards enhancing the quality of education by allocating a substantial grant of Rs2.5 million to each government school.
This initiative, announced by the government, is set to revolutionize the infrastructure and facilities of schools across the province.
The grant aims to create a significant positive impact by enabling schools to improve key areas such as science labs, classroom infrastructure, and overall building aesthetics, including painting and varnishing.
The School Management Council will manage the allocation and ensure effective fund utilization.
Schools have the flexibility to invest this amount in various critical improvements, such as upgrading science labs to meet modern educational standards, constructing additional classrooms to accommodate growing student populations, and enhancing the general school environment.
These efforts align with the government’s vision to provide a conducive learning atmosphere for students.
A key highlight of the new initiative is the relaxation of the previous rules under the PREPA framework, which had often hindered the spending process.

Earlier, school councils were limited to spending only Rs200,000, and school heads faced challenges due to excessive taxes imposed on accessing these funds.
The new Rs2.5 million grant offers a much-needed relief, with funds being provided separately from the regular Non-Salary Budget (NSB) allocation.
Schools will continue to receive their regular NSB on a quarterly basis, while the one-time grant provides a substantial opportunity to address long-standing infrastructural deficiencies.
This initiative represents a pivotal shift in the government’s commitment to improving public education. By offering substantial financial support, the government aims to close the gap in infrastructure and resources between government-run and private schools, ensuring a brighter future for students.
These improvements will transform the quality of education in schools, benefiting both students and educators.
