Islamabad, May 13, 2025: The School Education Department in Punjab has modified its transfer regulations to better accommodate female educators, particularly those who need to move due to marriage.
Announced in early May, the revised policy now permits married women teachers to relocate to the district where their husband resides right after their wedding, a major improvement from the earlier framework, which placed limitations on such relocation.

Key Highlights of the Revised Guidelines
Under the updated e-Transfer framework:
- Women employed in schools who marry during service can now relocate once to their husband’s place of residence or job location.
- This new category is now officially recognized as a form of personal difficulty and has been added to the list of exceptional grounds for requesting a move.
- Unlike in the past, transfers in this case can now be processed at any point during the year, offering added convenience and continuity for educators and their families.
When a move is requested across district or division boundaries, the education office in the teacher’s current posting area must work jointly with the receiving district to issue an official clearance.
The department has also laid down improved procedures to ensure this transition is handled in a smooth and transparent manner.

To maintain equity, the updated Punjab rules assign priorities to different categories considered as hardship cases, including:
- Divorced, widowed, or women who are living apart from their spouses
- Persons with disabilities
- Those facing chronic health issues
- Individuals raising children on their own
- Women requesting a move due to a recent marriage
In instances where multiple applicants fall under the same category, those serving at the greatest distance from their home will be given priority in transfer approvals.
