Islamabad, Aug 2, 2025: The Punjab administration has introduced an Electric Bike Scheme with cash reward of up to Rs. 100,000 to motivate citizens to replace their fuel-powered motorbikes with electric two-wheelers.
This scheme, under the Chief Minister’s Green Credit Program, allows qualifying individuals to obtain a green credit of up to Rs. 100,000 upon purchasing a brand-new electric bike and signing up through the official portal. The project’s primary focus is to reduce harmful emissions and support the use of eco-friendly transportation in the province.
Who Can Apply?
According to program director Rizwana Anjum, individuals purchasing an electric bike from December 2024 onward will be considered eligible. Interested applicants are required to submit the following:
- Date of purchase
- Make and model of the bike
- Official registration number
- Chassis identification
- A copy of the bike’s registration papers
- Clear images of the vehicle
After submission, a representative will visit to verify the details in person. Once confirmed, the applicant will receive an upfront amount of Rs. 50,000.
Second Installment Based on Usage
To claim the second half of Rs. 50,000, users must link their electric bike with the official Green Credit smartphone app. Riders who cover at least 6,000 kilometers within six months of registering will be awarded the remaining amount.

Program Reach and Goals
This financial year, the provincial government intends to shift 2,000 petrol-run motorcycles and 250 additional vehicles to electric variants. Officials estimate this shift could lower carbon emissions by 8,000 tonnes per year. The broader target is to electrify 30% of Punjab’s transport network by 2030, helping to cut transport-related emissions by 20%.
Retrofitted Vehicles Not Accepted
As stated by the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the incentive is strictly for newly purchased electric bikes. Motorcycles that have been converted from petrol to electric (retrofitted) will not qualify for the financial reward.
