Islamabad, Aug 10, 2025: Punjab govt fails to provide relief at Sasta Sahulat Bazaars as residents continue to face overpriced fruits and vegetables along with substandard quality. Instead of providing the promised relief, these so-called low-cost markets have become a hub for profiteering, leaving shoppers frustrated and burdened.

At the Sabzazar Sasta Sahulat Bazaar, prices are significantly higher than official rates. Cauliflower is being sold at Rs 200 per kg instead of Rs 150, capsicum at Rs 270 instead of Rs 200, and bitter gourd at Rs 220 against the set Rs 160. Similarly, peas are priced at Rs 280 instead of Rs 240, ginger at Rs 520 instead of Rs 490, while garlic, lemons, tomatoes, and ridge gourd are also sold well above the government-approved rates.

The situation is no different for fruits, with bananas reaching Rs 270 per dozen compared to the official Rs 215. Locals complain that profiteers are operating freely due to weak monitoring and poor quality control measures.

Midway through the much-hyped scheme, Punjab govt fails to provide relief at Sasta Sahulat Bazaars, as citizens demand urgent action. They are calling on the administration to regulate prices strictly, improve product quality, and take strong action against market manipulators. Without swift measures, these bazaars will remain a burden rather than a benefit for the people.
