Islamabad, Apr 18, 2025: In a significant step aimed at revitalizing the local film industry, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a Rs2 billion grant to provide financial backing to filmmakers and directors throughout the province.
As per official reports, this initiative is designed to foster the production of top-tier, highly acclaimed films while breathing fresh energy into Pakistan’s cinematic scene.
To qualify for the grant, filmmakers and directors must have produced at least one film in the last five years.
Establishment of Film Fund Allocation Committee
To guarantee the equitable and transparent distribution of these funds, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has established a Film Fund Allocation Committee, which will be led by Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

Grant Focus on Film Popularity and Quality
The government will give preference to filmmakers and directors behind successful films, following the guidelines.
