Islamabad, Jan 25: In a significant move to boost infrastructure and socio-economic development, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) convened on Friday and approved three major development projects, totaling Rs 20.59 billion. The meeting, chaired by Barrister Nabeel Awan, Chairman of the Planning & Development Board, focused on initiatives aimed at enhancing the province’s infrastructure and socio-economic conditions.
Key Projects Sanctioned by PDWP:
- Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER)
The PDWP approved the establishment of the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER), which will be developed through a comprehensive door-to-door socio-economic survey. This project is projected to cost Rs 9.17 billion and aims to gather critical data to improve the welfare and support systems for citizens across the province. - Dualisation of Lodhran-Kheror Pacca-Mailsi-Vehari Road (Phase II)
Phase II of the dualisation project for the Lodhran-Kheror Pacca-Mailsi-Vehari Road was also approved, covering the remaining 20 kilometers of the route. The estimated cost for this project is Rs 4.35 billion. This initiative will enhance road connectivity and improve transportation infrastructure in the region. - Rehabilitation of Gujrat-Sargodha Road
The rehabilitation of the Gujrat-Sargodha Road, spanning 3 kilometers from Km 27.90 to 122.20, was approved with an estimated cost of Rs 7.06 billion. This project will improve the road’s condition, enhancing safety and accessibility for commuters.

Dr. Asif Tufail, Secretary of the Planning & Development Board, along with Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other senior officials, were present at the meeting to discuss and approve these crucial projects. The initiatives reflect the provincial government’s commitment to fostering socio-economic development and improving infrastructure for the betterment of residents.
