Islamabad, Aug 11, 2025: Punjab boasts the largest donkey population in Pakistan, with figures far surpassing those of other provinces, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The donkey population in Pakistan is primarily concentrated in Punjab, which is home to approximately 2.4 million donkeys, making it the province with the highest count.
Sindh ranks second with over 1 million donkeys, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holds the third position, housing close to 782,000 donkeys. Meanwhile, Balochistan has the smallest number of donkeys among all provinces, highlighting significant regional differences.
In Balochistan, the donkey population stands at 630,000, whereas in the federal capital Islamabad, 4,000 donkeys have been recorded.
