Punjab’s Home Department has issued stringent security guidelines for Muharram processions and congregations, mandating fool-proof arrangements at all imambargahs and gatherings.
According to the guidelines, a three-level security cover must be in place for all congregations, with designated entrance and exit routes. Walk-through gates are mandatory at sensitive locations, and every attendee will undergo metal detector checks with CCTV monitoring.
The use of loudspeakers is restricted to assembly limits, and punctuality is emphasized. Health Department inspections are required for the distribution of niaz langar (free meals) and sabil (drinks). Car parking is directed to be located at least 200 meters away from the gathering areas, ensuring safety and security during the observance of Muharram.
