Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: As part of its ongoing Suthra Punjab cleanliness drive, the Punjab government has officially announced the implementation of a Punjab sanitation fee in both rural and urban areas. The initiative aims to strengthen long-term waste management services and improve public hygiene standards across the province.

Fee Structure for Rural and Urban Areas

Under the new policy, the fee will be charged according to location, property type, and size. Separate rates have been designed for rural and urban regions to ensure fairness and affordability.

Rural Areas:

  • Between Rs200 and Rs400, depending on the village size and household capacity.

Urban Residential Properties:

  • Houses below 5 marla: Rs300
  • 5–10 marla: Rs500
  • 10 marla: Rs1,000
  • 20–40 marla: Rs2,000
  • Over 40 marla: Rs5,000

Urban Commercial Properties:

  • Small businesses: Rs500
  • Medium businesses: Rs1,000
  • Large businesses: Rs3,000

Modern Digital Billing System Planned

In an effort to streamline the process, the Punjab sanitation fee collection will gradually shift to a digital billing system. Initially, paper bills will be issued every two months so residents can adjust to the new arrangement. Eventually, payments will be fully digitized, with an online application allowing citizens to pay conveniently and securely.

For areas with limited internet or mobile access, sanitation supervisors will continue collecting fees manually to ensure no household or business is excluded.

Supporting Clean and Healthy Communities

The Suthra Punjab campaign, running for the past eight months without any charges, will now have a dedicated revenue stream to sustain cleanliness efforts. Officials believe that the Punjab sanitation fee will not only help maintain cleaner streets but also create a more efficient waste disposal system for the entire province.
