Islamabad, Mar 7 2025: As per excise officials, a staggering 5,300 properties were sealed within the first two days of the campaign, following orders from Director General Excise Umar Sher Chatha.
Punjab Initiates Property Sealing alone accounted for 2,100 , with defaulters in the city owing over Rs. 70 million in unpaid taxes.
Authorities disclosed that total outstanding property taxes across Punjab exceed Rs. 160 million. However, the crackdown has already prompted some defaulters to clear their dues.

In Lahore, around 300 properties were de-sealed after payments totaling Rs. 10 million, while across Punjab, 1,600 properties were reopened following tax recoveries of Rs. 25 million.
To ensure effective recovery, the Excise and Taxation Officers (ETOs) have been assigned strict targets, with each officer directed to seal at least 150 properties daily.
According to the DG Excise, the department aims to recover 80% of outstanding property taxes by the end of the month. The operation is primarily targeting commercial, semi-commercial, and rental properties that have failed to meet their tax obligations.
