Under the special directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based driving test car has been developed.
The Traffic Police designed and built this advanced vehicle to make the driving test process transparent, automated, and free from human interference.
According to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, the smart car is equipped with cameras and advanced sensors capable of conducting driving tests automatically. Inside the car, there is a facial recognition camera and a biometric fingerprint machine, while four external cameras monitor the candidate’s performance.

As soon as the candidate enters the vehicle, an automated system provides test instructions, countdown timer, handbrake and seatbelt configuration, and all other required features. Waqas Nazir stated that if a candidate uses reverse gear more than once, the car automatically fails the candidate.
Test results are updated immediately via the automated system, eliminating the need for human intervention. The AI-based driving test car will first be implemented in Lahore, and during the current fiscal year, 200 such vehicles will be produced and deployed across all licensing centers in Punjab.
